Howdy Pardners!
We are excited to announce the first project for the volunteers in 2024. We are going to be planting some trees! We have researched options and spoken to the local nursery, and we have determined that our first round of trees will be Raywood Ash Trees. These are fast growing and moderately drought resistant once established. They are proven to grow well in our area, are hardy, and are not a messy tree. We can get trees in a 15 gallon container for $130 each. Please consider calling Headquarters to donate to our “Tree Fund” or stopping by Terry’s Nursery in Yreka to purchase a tree on our behalf (Terry can only take in-person payments, not over the phone). All funds donated to the Tree Fund will be used to purchase and plant trees at the swimming pool area, Cottonwood Campground, and Klamath Campground.
We would like to plant the trees during the week of April 22nd for Earth Day. Please let us know if you will be at R-Ranch that week and would like to help plant some trees. Once the trees are planted we will be looking for volunteers to sign up for weekly shifts to water the new trees.
