Election Information for 2024 

The R-Ranch Board of Directors elections will be held on July 6, 2024, at Klamath Lodge. Candidate Registration forms are available at Headquarters, on the website, and in the 1st quarter newsletter. Four (4) Directors will be elected this year for a 2 year term, and one (1) Director will be elected to a 1-year term (The Director placing 5th in the election will serve the one-year term). The Election Committee will be conducting the election using the Big Pulse Election Services software.   

 Important Dates: 

 March 25, 2024:        

Applications for Board Candidates will be available at Headquarters, on the website, and will be distributed in the 1st Quarter Newsletter.   

 May 3, 2024: 

Applications must be received by 4pm on this date. You can mail your forms, submit them in person, or scan and email them directly to the General Manager at R-Ranch Headquarters (email receipt of application will be provided). Anyone running for the Board of Directors must be an Owner in Good Standing and current on assessments, special assessments, special individual assessments, fees and fines by this deadline to be eligible to run for the Board of Directors (Redbook, By-Laws, Article 4, Section 4.3). 

 June 6, 2024:  

All Owners wanting to be eligible to vote in the election, must be an Owner in Good Standing and must be current on assessments, special assessments, special individual assessments, fees and fines by the Date of Record, which is 4:00pm June 6, 2024. Anyone not in “Good Standing” by this date will not be eligible to vote. 

 July 6, 2024:  

The annual Owner/Member’s Meeting will be held on Saturday at 1:00pm in the Klamath Lodge. Candidates are encouraged to attend so Owners can ask any final questions before they cast their vote. Signed ballots can be turned into the Election Committee representative between 11:30am-1:30pm at the Klamath Lodge, mailed in ahead of time, or submitted digitally via the Big Pulse election services. All ballots must be received by 1:30pm on July 6, 2024, to be counted. An Open Session of the Board will convene immediately after the election results are announced for the organization and seating of the Officers of the Board.

R-Ranch Information for Candidates of the Board 

Thank you for your interest in serving the ranch in the vital role of member of the Board of Directors for the R-Ranch Property Owners Association. R-Ranch couldn’t exist without the dedication and service of involved owners such as yourself. Please read this list to ensure you meet the minimum requirements and can perform the duties needed. Additionally, it is your responsibility to carefully read the Red Book which contains our CC&Rs and By-Laws to familiarize yourself with the governing documents of the ranch and ensure that you are committed to overseeing the affairs of the ranch in accordance with our governing documents. 

  • The “business and affairs of the Association shall be vested in and exercised by the Association’s Board of Directors.” Article VII, section 1 of the By-Laws (Found in the second portion of the Red Book. Articles VII, IX, and XI specifically address the duties and powers of the Board.)   
  • All Board positions are filled by volunteers. Board members do not receive any compensation for their time serving on the board, although they may be reimbursed for actual expenses incurred during their service.  
  • Board members should be able to attend most quarterly board meetings in person at the ranch. 
  • The ranch provided video conference platform currently is Zoom. Board members are encouraged to utilize Zoom to participate in monthly executive, regular, or special meetings of the board, or at least be able to participate via phone conference call. 
  • Board members should plan on spending a minimum of 20 hours per month on Board business. 
  • It is recommended that applicants have experience using the facilities and amenities at R-Ranch so that they have an adequate understanding of R-Ranch. 
  • Prior experience with boards, management, or leadership is ideal. 
  • Board members will need to sign and abide by a confidentiality agreement and ethics pledge. 
  • Board members will need to make reasonable decisions for the betterment of the Association.  
  • Board member candidates should attend the July 6th meeting in person, as the organizational meeting will immediately follow the announcement of the election results.  
  • At the Organizational Meeting of the Board of Directors, the new and continuing Board Members shall decide amongst themselves in open session who will serve in the roles of President/CEO, Vice-President, 2nd Vice-President, 3rd Vice-President, 4th Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Descriptions of these positions and the duties required for each are found in Article XI of the by-laws in the second portion of the Red Book.  
  • Candidates are encouraged to submit a statement with a photo of themselves on one side of an 8 ½” x 11” sheet of paper. The statement should be submitted to the General Manager along with the application to be a candidate. It is suggested that candidate statements include at least your name, how long you have been an owner, your favorite things to do at the ranch, your relevant experience, and your vision for the ranch’s future.  
  • Candidates can get an application from Headquarters in person, request one from HQ via email, download it from the ranch website, or use the application provided in the 1st Quarter Newsletter.
