President’s Letter
4th Quarter
Another season has come to a close. The Octoberfest dinner and dance seemed to be a great way to end our season. Another amazing dinner and a very nice turnout. The off season should provide us a little time to accomplish some projects around the ranch. Our staffing levels are such that we may not be able to do everything we wish to accomplish, however I know each and every one of the staff work hard to make our ranch a better place.
I am new to writing the Presidents letter so I will likely miss things and hopefully wont bore you with to much information. I still have a great deal to learn, but Pat has been busy trying to bring me up to speed on many fronts. As always if you have questions please ask! If I don’t know the answer I will do my best to find the answers you seek. Each of the Board members contact information are on the R-Ranch website.
We are in a critical time here at the ranch. Tim and Kelly have spent many hours working on the budget for the remainder of this year and next year. Everyone says we need to keep the assessments low, unfortunately we have reached a point where the option to keep assessments from rising has passed. We have limited options for raising funds other than assessments. In addition you will notice an increase in many fees. These also need to keep pace with inflation and hopefully cover costs to a break even point. The ranch can no longer subsidize all of the activities going on here at R-Ranch. I know many of you look at the Ranch and say the same things I’ve said. Why are the fences needing repair or what about the roof on the maintenance shed at Klamath. I could give you an excuse filled explanation, but I don’t believe excuses or blaming any one accomplishes anything.
The facts are the funding for these doesn’t exist. Can we fix this? Yes! I believe in R-Ranch and its owners! The future is ours to either maintain or lose. This year we have seen owners stepping up volunteering and getting things fixed. I am so encouraged by the efforts of volunteers. We will hopefully have many more opportunities for owners to become involved.
We have experienced every setback you can think of for the rebuild. We still have a long way to go. Are we going to have everything we want? No! Are we working to bring as much as possible back to the Ranch? Yes! It is time to get this done! We are continuing toward getting started. If we want to have everything we must bring in new owners. Kelly has been developing a marketing strategy and hopefully we will see some new faces. We have sold shares through the ranch and have some excited new owners. As the build process starts we should see more interest. R-Ranch is still a bargain.
I’m looking forward to helping make our R-Ranch the best it can be. We have an excitement amongst the board to get things done. Please be patient with us as we learn, and work together to bring the changes needed to assure a strong future for your R-Ranch
