    The Klamath

The Klamath River is a hidden gem located in the northwest corner of California and southern Oregon. This website describes two runs on the Klamath, the Upper (Hells Corner) and the Lower (Happy Camp to Dillon Creek). Hells Corner is rated Class IV+ and the Lower is rated Class II – III. Both rivers require a varying degree of whitewater rafting skills. Consider contacting a commercial whitewater rafting outfitter.

    The Rogue

In 1968 the federal government created the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act to protect the finest recreational rivers in the Country. The Rogue River is one of these spectacular natural beauties and it is legendary for its rich wildlife, clear waters and excellent fishing. Spend a day rafting and soaking up the sun, as bald eagles, great blue heron, and osprey glide through the air above. If you’re feeling adventurous, book a rafting trip down the Wild and Scenic section of the river – it’s world class whitewater at its best.

    Wildlife Images

Wildlife Images Rehabilitation and Education Center was founded as a non-profit corporation in 1981 to provide for the care and treatment of sick, injured and orphaned wildlife, and offer educational programs on wildlife, conservation and the environment to schools, organizations and the general public. Approximately 80 percent of the mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians surviving their initial injuries are returned to the wild. Animals with permanently disabling injuries that make them unable to live in the wild, if possible, are integrated into one of Wildlife Images educational programs. Wildlife Images Rehabilitation and Education center is open for public tours, free of charge, throughout the year, and has a very active educational outreach component. For more click here.

    Golf

You’ll find a variety of golf options in southwest Oregon surrounding the region’s largest city, Medford, which has a metro population of more than 200,000 residents. The area sits in the Rogue Valley between the Cascade Mountain Range and Siskiyou Mountains. As a result, the climate is drier than most of western Oregon, and it’s sunnier than the Willamette Valley, making for ideal golf conditions for much of the year, although the summers can be quite hot.

    Additional Golf Links: Oregon Golf

With our temperate climate, warm dry summers, and topography very similar to the rolling hills of Napa Valley, southern Oregon has become a wine connoisseur’s paradise. Live music and evening tasting events are standard fare at several of the 70 local Rogue and Applegate valley wineries. With our Bordeaux-like growing conditions, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, and Chardonnay dominate the varietals grown here. The wines of our valleys are now listed among some of the best in the US.

The Rogue Valley continues to surpass expectations by offering some of the finest boutique gourmet food merchants in the world. Tucked away in our valley are the Rogue Creamery and Dagoba Chocolates. The Rogue Creamery awards include Best Blue Cheese in the World for Rogue River Blue Cheese at the World Cheese Awards in London, while Dagoba Chocolates approach to organic chocolate has garnered them high regards from Food & Wine Magazine with their “Best Organic chocolate” award.

Local growers markets are plentiful throughout our valley from spring through fall, and feature only the finest locally grown produce. The region is truly an epicurean delight!
